I built a large temperature controlled chest freezer that works great. I have been taping the probe to the carboy when I have one batch in it. The other day I brewed a second batch so I just hung the probe inside the freezer set at 60. It seemed to work well and the beer temperature s stayed between 64-68. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a better solution when fermenting multiple batches in a chest freezer at the same time?

Just curious - why was the beer temp 64-68 if the freezer was set to 60. I know fermentation to raise beer's temp a few degrees, but I didn't think it would raise it nearly 10.

I just tape the temp probe onto the newest batch as that is the one that's the most critical for the first 4 or 5 days.

IMO After ± 7 days you don't really need precise temp control and temps up to ± 22C for a day or three are said to complete fermentation and get rid of any ester flavors.

It has to be the fermentation that raised the temperature I had the probe about 1 foot from the bottom of the freezer. The Temperature gradually dropped as the fermentation slowed down.
