One of the "problems" i fund in my searches for my first beer,that supose to be as simple as a pilsener,is the fermenting temperature.For what i found, lagers(like pilsener) need to fermenting at low temperatures,close to 3 or 4 ºC,and it´s need a refrigerator. Ales,is easier,but i´m not very fond of this kind of beer(except stouts).
