I just put my primary fermenter (6.5g carboy) into a rubbermaid tub and filled it with water at about 65F. About how much hotter would you suspect the fermenting wort inside the carboy is? I wouldn't think it would be more then 5 degrees or so.

i currently have biermunchers swmbo slayer goin in the same setup and the water is around 64 and im guessing the wort is around 68 or so. usually about a 4-5 degree varience

I took apart my old mini-fridge from my dorm days in college and submerged the condenser in the water in my rubbermaid tub. I'll have to run it for short burst until I can get a thermostat on it, but I think it will work to keep the fermenter temps in the 60's.
