so an old side-by-side fridge just became available thru the local HB club for $50. it's probably 25 years old and looks to be pretty dirty. I'm thinking I could spend some time cleaning it up and using this as my inspiration, hook up two STC1000's. That would give me the ability to have two independent fermentation chambers so in theory I could lager on one side, and ale-ferment on the other.

I took a $20 craigslist mini fridge, ripped off all the plastic stuff on the door, and put together an STC-1000 temp controller. I can ferment, lager, and condition at just about any temp I want. All in all I think I spent about $60 bucks on the whole thing. Best brew investment I've made yet as far as improving the quality of my beer.

Just put this together today. Already had the old college mini fridge laying around in the garage so decided to just close part of my work bench off and add some insulation ($50 bucks) I probably need to add a temp control, but so far things are cooling off.
