I recently started my first Mead Batch! I used a 1 quart mason jar (figured I would ease into it slowly) and I am not sure if it is fermenting. It has been two days and it doesn't have a layer of bubbles. Though when I swirl it it does build pressure. Also it has started smelling different, kind of an alcohol smell I guess. Maybe sourish. I am not using an airlock like I said it is my first time and I wanted to see if I enjoyed it before spending money, I am using a balloon. When I stirred it it did get fizzy. Is it failed or am I crazy and its fermenting?

If your story raises concerns of being mentally stable then i have good news...this place if full of wack-o’s

Seems there is evidence fermentation occurred. I say let it ride.
Thanks man!

Also, good to know I am in the right environment of wack-o's!
