I have a really laid back job. I work part time at a bookstore, in a small neighborhood. By my boss sucks, and after an eight hour shift, being told i don't do anything right, I come home, take a deep breath, and open up a beer (commercial since none of my batches are ready yet). Tonight i'll go to the local bar with my friends, play shuffle board and darts with the old bar flies who are nice enough to let me keep the money they could hustle away from me, and start it all over again tomorrow.

Its a good life, and i'm grateful and happy. I just wish my boss didn't suck so much. I know i'm not the first and i wont be the last.

Be careful what you post on the Internet.

Hey it could be worse like bing stuck 700 mile away from a great old ale that is just now comming around.all this is happening after being home all summer working in a freakin office, but i was able to go home and kick back a few of my ipa's:)( there all gone) and now stuck in a place where beer is not allowed :(... just think of that no beer for two weeks....dam those people who can show up for a freaking class...its work and its taking me away from my family and my old ale....anyway i hope your day gets better and have one for me......

You know, it could be worse. You could have a totally sucky Boss AND your job could totally suck too, but you have not choice because the job market sucks real bad and you need the money to keep your house and feed your family.

Hey Man, it sounds like you have it figured out to me. There's nothing you can do about your boss being a plick, but you seem to have a good attitude about it. Enjoy the beers and shuffleboard. And "Don't let the Bastards get you down"! - Dwain

yup yup. the hangover from one too many pitchers of macroswill (as mark denny likes to call it) have left me in bed till five minutes before work, smelling like a bum, and feeling drunk still. I'll have to put up with two hours of my boss's ****, then its all easy street.

and i know things could be worse. like i said. i'm grateful to have a job in this economy. and being a twenty something kid, the freedom of not having a family to support is a luxury i do take for granted (the ignorance of youth), so thanks for the perspective check guys.

also, got owned on in darts by the bartenders. by the fourth pitcher the bulls eye was winking at me.

well... bosses should tell you when you didn't do something correctly and show you how they'd like it done.
It ain't easy being a boss... some employees walk all over you and do **** while you're away. Not saying he isn't a jerk... just hard to tell from the info given.

Kronin, i dont think thats fair. Some bosses have it hard, and dont get the respect they deserve. other bosses are evil. for me, doing everything i'm told, and then getting yelled at for things outside of my control is symptomatic of the latter.

but your point is well noted, and i will try and be more understanding of where she is coming from.

Oh, its a she? Bone her and things should smooth out. Now, i dont want to hear any of that"She's ugly!" Or "She's old!" crap. Man up, dring two mini bottles of burbon, a home brew, take a vikadin, and go in there and throw that old broad some pole. Hell, to save my career i've laid more pipe than the local plumbing company! Go getum tiger. And if there is anything else you need just let me know. I'm here to solve just this kinda ****.

What do they claim your doing wrong? I would think book store jobs would be pretty straightforward.

My small town bookstore is owned by a big chain. I can't talk about specifics, cause i signed something saying i wouldn't. But really, the issue is i do everything on my bosses list, and she gives me a hard time because i don't anticipate all the things on next weeks list. no matter how routine the days get, it seems i never can predict some menial task i was supposed to do (and was not told to do).

Hillbilly, thanks for the laugh. Where I was planning on seeing structured positive reinforcement of some sort, I read your post and was blown away. Maybe it could be just as simple as you say: the fact that she needs some manmeat. She would probably be the epitome of sunshine on the following day. No more b****ing about this and that....just thinking about that longneck in your pants. Best of luck and more power to you if you go for the gold.
