Hey all. I am planning on whipping up ten gallons of ed worts infamous apfelwein. I plan on following the recipe exactly except fo the secondary. I will be leaving town shortly after brewing and thus will have to leave the stuff in the primary for right at 5 weeks. Are there any problems yall can think of about this extended time? Off flavor from over exposure to trub maybe? Any thoughts/advice is much appreciated.

You'll probably be just fine. I skip secondary for most beers unless they're quite complex. You just have to worry about infection from not sanitizing properly, lack of fluid in an airlock or a blow off tube failing you. Other than that you'll be just fine. I have a red ale thats probably 5 or 6 weeks still in the bucket and no problems.
