What is the effect of excess irish moss in primary fermentation? I accidentally dumped about 3/4 ounce into the boil for a 5 gal. batch!

Shouldn't be a problem. You might end up with a super clear beer, but everything that goes in the fermenter will drop out in the trub, and Irish moss shouldn't affect the flavor or anything like that.

I've seen recipes recommending five times as much Irish moss as the manufacturer's directions. Doesn't seem to have any impact on the beer.
