Here in extremely northern California they take 5¢ deposit on every can and we have the option of getting 5¢ back on each can or $1.63 per pound. A coke can weighs .5 ounce and 32 cans by weight pays a couple cents more than counting the cans individually. I recently weighed a beer can and it weighs .6 ounce so it only takes 27 beer cans to get the $1.63.
