Ethyl alcohol as an ingredient

I just had a delicious beer from Belching Beaver Brewery. It was a peanut butter milk stout. However, I noticed it had several ingredients listed including ethyl alcohol. I understand that ethyl alcohol is the primary reason most of us enjoy beer, but I've never seen it listed before. What's the deal?
 
Ahh, so they didn't add the ethyl. They added the peanut extract which contains ethyl. Thanks
 
Yes, you would either use extract or defatted powder (like "PB2") to avoid head retention issues associated with excess oils. Extract is probably cheaper.
