I didn't think one goal was going to be enough and the two delay of game penalties were just carelessness. They had the chance to put all this silly talk behind us...thanks Detroit.

I think without either power play the Wings could have clutched a win. Brunner had a great SO attempt and lost control. Kane was a tricky mothafuqqa. Good game to watch but tough break for Detroit.

Great Boston comeback win today...I'm watching a very entertaining Pens Habs game...I hope the Canadians are getting tired, They have to play the B's tomorrow night...

Edit..Ha, the Habs lose in OT...It should be a nice long flight to Boston..

I have to get myself a Slingbox. I was down in NJ and NESN isn't on the Verizon service in my oldest son's area, so no Bruins. Definitely going to look into getting one of those boxes.

Ironically tonight's game is on NBC down there, but now I'm back home and can see it just fine...

Cheers!

So Zolnierczyk gets a 4-game suspension. Nothing for Alfie's cross check to Rinaldo's head/face and doesn't even sound like he got a call from the League about it. Continued hypocrisy and Shanahan continues to show his double standard and inconsistency. What a joke.

Do you need a tissue to wipe away all those tears.

Expected this, but it's a joke that a guy gets 4 games and didn't target the head and a player who does target the head and gets a match penalty in the same game doesn't even get a phone call.

Comes down to the injury aspect. Fair or not that's the way the league has been handing them down.

I disagree. It's a double standard and Shanny's a joke. Deliberate headshot vs no headshot. Stick work to the head and face vs barely leaving your feet prior to contact on an open ice hit against a idiot who has his head down. Should have been a 2 minute minor penalty and that's it. It's not Z's fault the dude had his head down and it wasn't like the hit was malicious. Yes, he barely left his feet and drove upward, but there was no extension of the forearm or elbow and no contact to the head. That's a minor penalty.

The fact Alfredsson lost his composure and went after Rinaldo's head and face with a cross check, much like Jesse Boulerice did, much like Carcillo did and gets nothing more than his 5 minute penalty is a joke.

It sends the message that if you're a "star" or well-respected player, and you target a player that generally has a generally less than favorable reputation because he instigates, hits, fights, and occassionally scores, it's acceptable to hit a guy like that however you want under any circumstances. I was actually surprised he received a 5 minute major on the play.

Fin Hawks.

That is all.

He did have his head down. I would argue the hit was malicious and he more than barely left his skates. Lucky his head didn't fly off his neck. It was violent and not a minor penalty in my book.

I would have expected more like a 2 game suspension, but they are basing it on the result (concussion) and not the hit which has to be flawed. I also agree with you on being consistent when giving out suspensions. I give Shanny a C- or D+ in that regard.

At the point of contact, the skates were barely off the ice. The post contact dramatics are irrelevant. Malicious, in my book, is driving through the contact with the elbow or forearm and targeting the head with any body part. Any east west open ice hit is going to be violent, especially when the tard getting hit has no idea it's coming because he's looking at the pick in his stick.

It's a man's game. Keep your head up and feet on the ice.

I just don't see anything more than a minor but the injury makes everyone weak in the knees.

Maybe when you remove the homer glasses you will realize that what's done is done. His hit was dirty and now he sits. Also stars have been suspended. Taylor Hall,Giroux in the playoffs last year(if you can even consider him a star) etc

Well, Sunday's Bs vs Cs game took me back to the days of my yute - when the Cs always had some sh!tweasel who would take a cheap shot at a B, the Bs would suffer the wrath of the refs as a result of their retaliation, and the Cs would manage to walk out with the W.

Last night followed that classic script.

C'est la vie, on to the next game!

Cheers!

Wings and Aves play tomorrow. With a guy like Tootoo wearing the red jersey, does anyone else hope tomorrow's game looks like the ones when Chris Draper used to fight with Claude Lemieux?

Those days are long gone, my friend. But IMO they should have one more brawl for old time's sake, before Detroit moves out East...:rockin:

Yes, homer glasses because there's inconsistency and double standards across the league and this is just another example.

to me it looks more like he brushed his face with a stick, something that was dumb but in no way intent to injure and he was not injured thus they didn't suspend..

He left his feet to make the hit clear as day contacting his head, and injuring hit... game over suspension earned

Alfie is dirty - one of the dirtiest Swedes to ever lace 'em up. Don't let his hospital donations and community work fool you. He's a piece of **** on the ice - Kanata Senators personified.

I see the Hawks' streak continues - problem is it needs another asterisk since they haven't had to play a real hockey team yet this season (see: Eastern Conference).

Don't worry - the Red Wings will once again return to relevancy once realignment happens.

There's a reason why everyone's sleeping when the Wild play the Blue Jackets.
