Does that mean you don't get Hopslam either?! It sold out before I could get my hands on it a few weeks ago. Store said another batch is coming in soon.

As for the game...I'm pulling for Detroit.

As much as I thought Grand Rapids was a decent place this summer when I was there for 5 weeks, eff your city/Wings/state.

:ban:

I wish I could get Two-Hearted Ale in Pa. Loved having it on tap at the hotel.

I drink more Founders than Bells. Seems that any decent place to eat has it on tap now.

I haven't had Hop Slam yet.

Tried several Founders beers and liked them as well. I spent some time at Selfridge before heading to Grand Rapids and we were in a hotel down the street from a restaurant called Twisted Rooster. That place had some good beers on tap as well.

Not sure how Filpula missed that oppotunity

Looked like the puck flipped over onto and rode his blade rather than just a shot. I thought it was going to be 5-3.

Big power play coming up for the Flyers. These two teams would make for a very interesting playoff series. Maybe a rematch of the '97 Finals...

(Psst, don't tell anyone, but Pittsburgh won again, this time over TB.)
Malkin picks up another two goals (almost a hat trick on an empty netter, but hit the post with 1 second left). LeTang picks up 3 points.

Before this game, the Maltin/Neal/Kunitz line had 51 points in 13 games. Tonight Kunitz had a goal and 2 assists (3 points), Neal had an off night (no goals, 3 assists = 3 points), and Malkin 2 goals. Another 8 points for that line.

Pens @ 69 now tied in points with the Flyers. GO DETROIT! (Quite strange to say that.)

As long as it isn't the Penguins

Good game...special teams killed the Flyers, again. And the tying of the record is a joke. I concur with the point made earlier about the shootout wins not counting.

I have Neal on my fantasy roster and he's been solid. I have Franzen and Lidstrom as well. Today was decent, 2 goals, 11 assists, +6, 19 PIMs for the main stats, on 9 players.

Detroit Red Wings -- Tied NHL record with 20 consecutive home wins*

Detroit plays Dallas Tuesday to claim sole possession of the Home Victory record.

Hey, wasn't there a loudmouthed Dallas fan on here last year? Maybe year before, Can't remember when Dallas had their last good season.

Kind of miss his chirping.

not

Longest Winning Streak in Hockey (not this "at home winning ties" stuff): 1993 Pittsburgh Penguins: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winning_streak_%28sports%29#National_Hockey_League

17 games. Ended the streak when NJ tied them. They had 119 points that year. But, regular season doesn't mean Stanley Cup, and they were eliminated by the Islanders in the second round (in a game 7 OT).

Edit: I watched the game.

Butthurt asterisk-wanting party poopers are so annoying. Something could also be said that due to the parity in today's NHL that Detroit tying the record is even harder than in the past.

Either way it's quite an achievement, and it's impressive that Detroit has been so good for the past couple of decades.

Although I posted the Pens 93 record, I agree that it is quite an achievement, and that Detroit has had some impressive teams! (Which is part of the reason I thought it would have been nice to see Detroit, Pittsburgh, and some others be in a "Central" style division.)

I'm not butthurt at all over it. I was just pointing out that I don't think it's the same as the Bruins and Flyers records. 20 straight unbeaten is impressive regardless, and I don't mind the Wings at all. I was just being obnoxious in the obnoxious hockey thread. I don't care about the record enough to get my panties in a bunch, I was just messing around.

I don't think the asterisk is warranted. Like someone said earlier, the parity in today's NHL makes up for those 3 shootout wins. Plus back in the day they only played 40 something games in a season...so take your pick of which combination is more difficult.

Why must teams be held accountable for rule changes and media perception? I could care less about that record, and I bet not one Red Wing cares, it's all about the cup.

Cup, cup, cup, cup, cup!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How dare you not have sympathy for Buffalo -_- I'm with you on this Bole, Atleast it looks like the Sabres have finally came to play in the second half of the season...Too bad it might already be too late

It's definitely not too late. But we're gonna need Ottawa and Toronto to tank...which any other year would be a given. I'm not so sure this year. I wouldn't bet on the Sabres making it in.

Born and raised 60 miles from Detroit, thank you.

My condolences.

Just kidding...I actually went to the Wings-Flyers game at The Joe last season and it was awesome. Hope you can tell I'm just messing around.

I wouldn't say they have to be held accountable, but I see no reason why the differences can't be recognized. I'm not trying to take anything away from the Wings, what they've done is incredible.

And I agree, records are nice, but the Cup is what matters.

It's all good, re-read the thread title, the gloves are on the ice in here.
