Hi Folks! Making Northern Brewers Bourbon stout. Need to do a yeast starter. Any recommendations on how much wort and yeast to use. Last time I used a wyeast pack and 1/2 cup of malt. Want to add a few more ounces of Bourbon this time. Do I need yeast now or at bottling? Thanks!

It depends on on the OG and batch size. Use the mrmalty calc: Mrmalty.com

What do you mean about yeast at bottling? You won't need to repitch anything at bottling, there will be yeast in suspension.

How much bourbon are you planning on using? I just put 8 oz of Buffalo Trace into a chocolate stout and it is perfect.

Making 5 gallons. Last time used 22 ounces. Want to use 32 this time.couldn't really taste the Bourbon last time...makers mark
