Zen..... Is sitting in the brew barn at 530 this morning.... Sipping on a delicious cup of French pressed coffee (made with a sample of the heating strike water) while the delicious aroma of coffee, grains and the hiss of the propane burner fill the air.
I can watch the day "awaken" and hear and see the animals and people begin to function for the day.
They check me out as they drive by and surely wonder what I am doing at this early hour. Even had a bird inadvertently fly into the barn and perch for a minute. I figured that the smell of grain was attractive to it as well. Could not get it to land and eat some grain that I tossed, but I am sure she will be back.
About to start the boil, but my 6yr old daughter insisted that I come inside to help her make hot choc.
The truly Zen moments start now because she becomes my brew assistant (she is so "into" spending this time with me).
She recently told her classmates and teacher about the awesome weekend that she had... When asked for details, she proudly told them all "MY DAD AND I MADE A BATCH OF SCRUMPTIOUS BROWN ALE AND SOME HARD CIDER!!!"
Does it get better than this??
