Hey Everyone!

I'm doing my first dry-hopped IPA, and I am using some beautiful leaf Simcoe and Amarillo hops in my 6.5 gallon glass carboy on a 5 gallon batch. I added the hops to the carboy, racked the beer into it, and now, about 60 hours later, pretty much all of the hops are still floating on the surface. Is this reason for concern? I know they drop down on their own, but I'm just a little concerned because it seems like they should have done so by now. If this is abnormal, any advice on what I can do?

Thanks so much!

They will absorb liquid, but probably won't ever fall. That's fine, as the beer can still permeate it and it makes racking easier.

I use the SS mesh tubes from Arbor Fabricating in my secondary carboys. You need to use powder funnels for both pellets or leaf hops. A larger neck is better w/ leaf hops.
All you need to do is slowly remove & drain the tube before transferring to your keg or bottling bucket.

rack as normal, just be careful not to get a hop leaf suck in the autosiphon.

A hop bag with some glass marbles or glass stones in the bag with help them sink to bottom, making them fully submerged.

The BIG mouth carboy is great for dry hopping using the above method.
