Hi there, I'm in the process of building an E-HLT/BK. I have a 25' IC right now, but will be upgrading to a 50' SS IC in the future. I've seen plenty of people talking about using their IC as a drop in HERMS Heat exchanger, but I have not found any information on how they keep it off of the heater element or if that's even necessary. I don't know how fragile they are and if a 50' SS IC sitting on it will break it at all. Any advice would be awesome!

Thanks!
Mike

You did not say how large the kettle is but there are some options here. They are intended for BIAB but I think they would work?

BIAB false bottom

Or you could use a cooling rack and put some stainless carriage bolts and washers to hold it up off of the element.

Something like this?
Stainless cooling rack

For a ghetto solution, use a hose clamp or similar to clamp an S hook to the inlet/outlet pipes of the IC and hook that over the side of the HLT.

Thanks! It's going to be in a keggle. I was thinking about building a stand out of some leftover copper, but I like the cooling rack idea also!
