Say what you will about Starbucks, but I have grown to enjoy their coffee a lot. One of the things I like most is the "thickness" or richness of the coffee. Try as I might, though, I cannot produce a similar experience at home. I use regular coffee - nothing fancy - and half and half. It tastes just fine, but I cannot get that mouth feel I am looking for.

Do any of you have any suggestions?

Buy french roast. I think Starbucks is a dark roast, so French Roast is probably what you are looking for when shopping for coffee at the store.

Use 14g of coffee per "cup" in your maker.

A tablespoon of ground coffee weighs about 5g. A coffee scoop is usually 2 tbsp.

Try a French press. They emulsify the oils instead of trapping them in a filter.
With French Press, there will be no Starbucks like drinks. Instead using the machines like BrevilleBES920Xl or some Saeco will help to do so.
