Already have my dream car for over 10 years... Although a Stage 2 engine will be the next thing I change. (Insert evil laugh). A T/A performance aluminum V6 will suffice also. Now you can understand the username.

You know I have an Early CJ5 that engine would fit right into perfectly like JEEP meant it to be there.

Nice to see so many gear heads here! You guys have great automotive taste. Here's what I'd love to build. To bad California has some retarded emissions laws.

Yep, cram an LS3 into an NB Miata! Talk about a sleeper.

Dude! You stuff a LS3 into a Miata and I would PAY BIG $$$$ to drive that bad boy! HOLY CRAP! I dropped a 460hp supercharged Buick V6 into a 1978 MGB when I lived in Athens Ga and I have to tell you it was the freeken ride of your life! I could spin the tires off in just about any gear at any time.

Man I wish I had picts of that! It was long before the digital age!

Cheers

Not exactly my dream car,but she's mine & won best in class at Midwest Mazdafest in '10;

We're going to look at a red Mustang GT for my son in a little while. We'll see how that works out...:rockin:

One of these days I'll replace my old MR2 (my attainable one I once had but had to get rid of) and drop a V6 in the back of that.

I'd love to see pics of that MGB! There are a few LSx Miiata's in CA, but you're more likely to see a 5.0 around these parts. Check out http://www.flyinmiata.com/ if you want to see some LSx builds.

My coworker has one of those. '85 or '86, I believe. He talks about it constantly, and since he gives me crap about talking about beer, I give him **** about his Monte Carlo. He gets mad and I laugh :cross:

Yeah I've heard that one. They look nothing alike but some people don't know the difference when they just see a black car. :(

Bought the '99 Mustang GT we looked at Saturday morning for my middle son. 4.6L 5 speed with traction control & the usual power options. Looks like Poppy Red to me. All for 2K. Gotta clean it up & get a pic.

Wow, so beautiful. If I were 18 again the AC Cobra would win. The '69 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed was an awesome family car which was actually a 401 inch mill. The '69 383 CI Road Runner was also impressive. For what was then a small car was the 1968 Sport Satellite which has a 340 inch high compression motor. They would eat up anything in their class and then some. Been there, done that, and miss it so dearly.

Edit. I meant the '68 Dart Swinger 340 high compression not Sport Satellite which was a 383 high compression motor with tons of potential.

This Mustang being in my name for a while is #4 for me. My brother had a '70 454 Chevelle,a '72 vette with T-tops,& a 68? Javelin/AMX with 343 4spd. Same color/stripes as the Chevelle at the end of F&F. Miss them all...

There were 3 reds available for purchase for that year.... my guess is either Rio or performance red is what you got.http://mustangattitude.com/mustang/1999/1999mustangcolors.shtml

Here's performance red

Here's a thread talking about the two colors

And here's a picture of laser red http://1.cdn.lib.americanmuscle.com/files/99-flaming-red-mustang-gt.jpg

Congrats on the purchase for your son!

Love that Powerwagon!

There are WAY too many cool cars to pick just one. That said, I have had a HardOn™ for Mustangs since time before memory. As a youngster I sometimes would draw the very early 65-66 mustang. I had no reason to know why I liked them, but I did. I just thought they looked awesome.

A few years back I spent the money to buy an old Mustang. It is a 1969 Hardtop (The "fastbacks" are actually called Sportroofs) and it was a plain jane I250 with a 3-speed and more rust than I knew.

It's currently sitting on blocks in the garage. At least, what's not stashed upstairs in the garage! It's ONLY sheetmetal at this time, with the windshield and back window. The engine compartment has been patched and welded, and I'm currently starting back to work on her this spring. Still have floorpans to weld in and then back to the trunk, quarters, and wheelw wells.

The plan is a resto-mod in gun metal silver with standard hood scoop, chin spoiler, rear spoiler, and Shelby convertible side scoops (To replace the awful stock side scoops on that year.

Here is my car at the place I bought her, and also something similar to what I envision, except I am undecided on the wheels and the rear spoiler. And I really don't want a black car that I have to wash CONSTANTLY.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I bought a used 351W to replace the worn out, smoking I6, and when I mic'ed it up it was still in factory tolerance. Paid $150 for the engine and tranny and since the trannys was a truck tranny, I sold it for $75. So I got the motor for $75.

Homer, I think it's so cool that you're on the way to achieving your dream car. For most of us, our dream cars will always be out of reach, unless we win the lottery in a big, big way. It'll take you some time & work, but I think you'll enjoy it more than if you just bought one fully restored.
Regards, GF.

Congrats on the purchase for your son!

To be honest, when the sun isn't shining brightly on it,it looks a lot like the Rio Red on my '94 Probe SE. Haven't looked at the color code yet.*Just realized today that it's the 35th anniversary addition!*

Thanks! When I had it at my In-law's place I would drive down and work on it all weekend long, and my FIL's 67 Cougar (maybe an even sweeter car, IMO) and then when I decided to build a garage and convert our attached garage into living space, I took some time off of it and really got into homebrewing.

Eventually I moved the Stanger up to my house and with continuing remodeling and homebrewing I never really got around to working on it much.

This is the summer I get back into it! I'm already cleaning and organizing the garage, which is a BIG step for me. I'm getting rid of some of my scrap steel cluttering up the garage and building some bins to organize the rest. Need to build some shelves upstairs and move a few things up there so I have room to work.

I'm pretty excited to get back to work on her, but I also have some body patching to do on our (paid for) daily drivers. Maybe good practice for panel replacement on the Mustang.

I decided a while back that if I wanted a nice old car, I'd have to fix it up myself. I bought a used car and added a bunch of necessary tools over the years. Some things, like a decent compressor and air tools, and the MIG welder, have been useful for so many other things, and have helped me save enough money on car repairs to pay for themselves.

Fixing up a car like this is several years' worth of work. I'm only bummed my FIL moved to Arizona and sold his Cougar right after getting it painted. I wish he was around to work on the mustang with me.
