I will soon be approaching my 1st full year of this hobby(addiction, lifestyle)and find myself learning something new everyday.Hard to believe that a little Mr.Beer brown barrel would evolve into my spare room, bedroom closet and coat closet being filled with brewing equipment.I wake up and check HBT read and watch videos a majority of the day and before i go to bed check HBT and find new books to add to the collection.
Looking back i find it very amusing how easy that Mr.Beer kit made things sound.Boil water add extract and stir, then pitch yeast and put in a cool place. The SWMBO told me that batch was great if you threw a orange in the glass but the truth was it was the worst apple sour bomb and she was trying to make me feel better.Who knew that there were so many different yeast strains and that they each required different temps and pitching rates.Never thought to check the date on the extract because i thought it was of no consequence.Had no idea that tap water may not be the best option.
So now i find myself using a keezer as a fermentation chamber whilst building another fermentation chamber so i can use the keezer for its intended purpose.I also have a controller built for my single tier brew rig that i am building and have three beers i want to brew within the next week and one left to bottle and to rinse yeast. The SWMBO blames her mom for all this since she got me the kit for Christmas last year but i have much gratitude for it and this site.Add a little OCD to the mix and the brewing never stops.
