That long, thanks.
You could bump it to 30 psi for 24 hours, then purge and let it sit for a week at 12 which is what I do.
That long, thanks.
This beer is in my pipeline right now. I brewed it back in January, and after a 3 week primary, I cold crashed it and hit it with gelatin to clarify it. I then racked it to a secondary and added the dry hops. That was 5 days ago, and it's currently pretty cloudy, and the dry hops are floating on top (pellets, pretty dried out, probably a year and a half old). In a couple of days, I'll rack it to a keg and start carbonating (2 weeks). Once it's ready, I'll post a picture. I'm a little skeptical of the effectiveness of my (old, dried out) dry hops, but I'm still optimistic that it will have a nice, hoppy flavour.
I just made a batch with all fresh ingredients... you're welcome to come by and swap some beers and compare![]()
Justdrumin said:Hey all! I've been reading HBT for a few months and have my first batch bottled! This is also my first post. So excited to be a part of this great community of homebrewers! But forgive me if this has already been mentioned. I'm lookin at doin the AHS clone kit and It recommends s-04 or wlp002. Also it recommends a double pitch...is that really necessary? I was just planning on using the s-04 and pitching one package. Thanks for the help!
One pack of S04 should be fine, just ferment in the lower 60's if ya can. I believe Yooper can attest to this.

boser37 said:Ok I was in a homebrew haze by the end of my boil yesterday and measured just the straight wort without adding the 2.5 gallons of water. I measured the again today when I realized my mistake and its at 1.070.
I'm still very new to brewing so forgive me if this is a stupid question! I would like to do a 4 gallon boil as I have a 6 gallon pot but does this mean I will have to adjust the recipe?
Fordzilla said:Do you have a big enough fermenter for 5 gallons plus headspace? If so just follow the recipe, boil 4 gallons and add enough top up water to get to 5 gallons when you transfer to your fermenter.
By the way, there's no such thing as a stupid question!
I have a 6 gallon carboy. I was just under the impression that if you changed the starting water amount you had to change the recipe due to a different concentration of wort?
No recipe change as long as you intend to reach the target final volume. You can achieve the target final volume by
1) doing a full volume boil or
2) doing a partial boil and adding top off water.
I went to get all the necessities for this and my how brew store did not have Thomas faucet. They gave me melanoiden instead however I am not sure the color will be right now because its coming out at 4.7. Will this be a noticeable difference in color/ taste?
