I have two brews fermenting in the fermentation chamber, one a blonde ale, should be ready to be kegged and an IPA that is only a day into the dry hop. I want to try and get the Blonde kegged up to be ready for Saturday if possible.

So the question is, if I cold crash in the ferm chamber now, will the drop in temperature slow and/or stop any benefit from the dry hop in the IPA? Or am I over thinking this?

thanks!

It will definitely change the dry hop. I read one study here recently that claimed that there wasn't any benefit by dry hopping for more than a day but personally, I have always done at least 3 days.

It will slow it a little bit. Why not throw them in the keg when u transfer?

Same here, not sure I want to try out a shorter one on this batch, really want the aroma coming through strong

you could take the IPA out of the fermentation chamber and let it finish dry hopping at room temperature. Presumably fermentation is done or just about done by now so temperature control not important.

^^^^^Best and easiest answer. ^^^^^

I always remove my batches from the ferm chamber as soon as the krausen falls flat, pop an airlock on them, and put them in the downstairs closet. The only time I don't is if I'm going to be adding additional fermentables to them.

I always dry hop my IPA's in the fermenter and the keg too.

Yep, that is certainly easier than over thinking timing. Not sure why I never considered that...
The fermentation is done, will take out the IPA when i get home from work today.

thanks!
