So, I found some Hopshot hop extract I purchased and forgot about, so I decided to brew a beer with it. Despite reading many times on this forum not to actually taste it directly, a minuscule amount got on my figure, so, of course, I licked it. 💀☠️💀☠️

A slow build up of mistake!

Yep. Been there. It smells pretty good so.......

I'm also the kid who sampled vanilla extract because it smelled great too.

I've bitten hop pellets because, again, they smell awesome.

I'm obviously not someone to emulate.
I will now try to find vanilla extract and taste it myself, thanks for the idea.

I had some hop shots and once thought, meh, this beer isn't very hoppy. I got one out and drizzled some into a glass (what a great idea) and filled the glass with beer, for the most part it didn't help the beer(I was very disappointed), then a small globule came loose from the glass, came into my mouth and stuck to the roof of my mouth. Holy crap, it was all I could do to get a napkin and try to get it out of my mouth, of course my tongue hit it every time it moved, and it seemed like days before the taste finally went away.

Another time, a friend was over and we were using the hop shots, I had added the hop shot to the kettle and was about to toss the syringe into the trash, there was just a tiny bit left on the tip of the syringe, I asked my buddy, "hey do you wanna taste this?", his response was "sure", the look on his face was priceless, lol. I know, it was mean and I shouldn't have done it.

A "Don't do that" lesson for sure.

Since you are going to try this no matter the warning given, try pure vanilla extract and then try artificial vanilla. Be sure to give us a complete report.
I can't find my artificial vanilla extract and I can't be bothered to buy new extract. I did taste the rum version and that was fine. Not really rum and just very intense, but not horrifying. My own vanilla extract with vodka and leftover high grade vanilla skins is fine as well. Very intense flavour, but I quite like it. Most of my other extracts were similar. Lots of pure flavour, but tasty. Weed extract is rank though.

Edit: slight correction, I just tried my Tonka extract as I'd forgotten that one and holy mother of whatever that stuff tastes dangerous. In beer it's good, but very strong. Pure it's overwhelmingly bitter and weird.

lol, but you are emulated.

You forgot about baker's chocolate. The bars that almost look like real chocolate bars. Cruel joke on kids with candy needs. Maybe I'm the only kid that found these in grandma's pantry and was severely disappointed in the result.

Meh. Tasting real vanilla extract ain't no thing.

Masticating a healthy pinch of Chinook cones while touring the Coors factory in Golden back in 1970, otoh, took me a couple of years and a whole lot of Crown Royal to get over

"Don't do that"

Cheers!

There was the time I attempted to make hop salsa. That did NOT work at all.

I would gladly eat an entire bakers chocolate bar than face the pain of that rice grain sized smear of hop extract again!

Hmm, maybe this is what led to my WCIPA fascination...
