Do I need to Sanitize Oak Chips before adding to Secondary?

I have a batch of mead I think would benefit from oak chips. I bought french oak chips and american oak chips, they come sealed in a bag. I was going to drop it in secondary for a month and then I started worrying that maybe they need to be sanitized before putting in? Thoughts?

I usually put them in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 350 when i flavor my wine.

Just wash them under hot water to rinse off any dust.

I soak mine in vodka for an hour, but, I don't use chips, I use cubes & spheres
