Hey all!

I am looking for ideas on a cheap DIY brew paddle. I have no metal working skills but I am handy. Any ideas floating around out there?

PS is wood a problem with flavor absorbing?

I have seen many wooden paddles. In fact BYOB magazine had a DIY but it requires some tools to cut the wood, obviously. If you use wood, it can't be pressure treated because there are some nasty chemicals in there. If you Google "Beer mash paddle" you can see several examples. In fact, I saw some for sale that would be tough to make for the same price.

My HD doesn't. If you click on in store pick up it will tell you right away. My guess is you need to be down south for that... :)

Amazon has a similar one for about $13 direct from amazon:

If you go metal, make sure you don't leave any sharp edges.

Sharp edges + BIAB = torn sack......and no one likes a torn sack. ;)

Yeah.. I think you have to be around LA to find it in a store. I was thinking of doing a group buy with my HB club.. free shipping with $45.
