Hi All. I'm getting into kegging and made a keg/carboy cleaner today. Thought I'd share the results.
Parts list:
Utility pump (bought on FB Marketplace for $5)
(1) 5 gal bucket with lid
1/2" pvc pipe 3" long
1/2" pvc pipe 9" long
1/2" pvc pipe 17" long
(2) 1/2" bulkhead union Menards sku 6806620
(1) 1/2" pvc male adapter Menards sku 6896551
(1) 1/2" pvc cap Menards sku 6896674
(1) 1/2" union Menards sku 6895536
(1) 1/2" pvc 90 deg elbow Menards sku 6896467
(2) 3/4 male GHT x 1/2" male npt adapter Menards sku 6806709
(1) pack washing machine hose Menards 6799900
Teflon tape, pvc primer, pvc glue
For starters take the 17" piece of pvc and glue the cap to one side and the top of the union to the other. Set this aside to dry.
Drill 2 holes in the bucket for the bulkhead fittings. 1 1/4" was plenty big enough to pass these through. Then drill a series of holes around the rim of the bucket lid for drainage and as I have Sanke kegs I made a 3" hole in the center of the lid.
Install your bulkhead fittings making sure the rubber gasket is on the inside of the bucket
The male garden hose x npt adapters will screw into the outside of the bulkhead fittings.
The pvc male adapter will screw into the inside of one of the bulkhead fittings. Whichever one you screw it into becomes the discharge or outlet side. Once the pvc adapter is screwed in glue the 3" piece into it, then the elbow pointed up, followed by the 9" piece and finally the other half of the pvc union.
Take the 17" piece from step 1 and drill small holes in the cap and around the edge of the cap (angle these pointed up) i also went about 9" down from the top and added some holes there. Screw the union together and it will look like this.
All that's left is attach the hoses to the pump and to the adapters on the outside of the bulkhead adapters, fill with your preferred cleaner and plug it in.
The union on the discharge pipe is not completely needed. I put it on to allow me to remove the piping for storage without having to disassemble everything.
Edit: In the last photo I pushed my Fermonster as far to the side as I could to make sure the holes I drilled around the edge of the lid would keep up with the water flow. Nothing spilled over and the floor stayed dry.
