Hey guys so quick question. My first home brew, an American pale ale, just finished fermenting, and it's been in fermenter 11 days now. I decided to get a hydrometer reading to check where it's at... Look at a 4.7% abv. So I decided not to just throw away the beer and tried what I had in the tube. It definitely smelt like beer but had a watered down flavor to it. I was curious if that's normal for this stage?

yes, it is very normal at this stage and you cant really tell anything from it, it's not carbonated, it will change.

The mouthfeel will change as will the taste after it is carbonated. Now that you have opened the fermenter you should keg or bottle right away :)

Yeah, my biggest problem is giving beer time to become great, lol

I have a Irish red ale that I made in April of 21017. I kegged 5 gal and put 5 bottles back. Tried one today. Fu@% me flying!! so much better.
