Just came from the lhbs. I asked for wheat malt and he gave me white wheat malt. Big difference?

Wheat malt is made from red wheat, which is just a different variety than white wheat.
White wheat has slightly lower protein, and, ironically, a slighter higher srm. White wheat also has a bit less diastatic power, although it's still plenty high.
I think you won't notice a huge difference. I have used them interchangeably before, and depending on your recipe, any noticeable differences will likely be diminished by what the other ingredients bring to the table.

If you say wheat malt you may get either white or red wheat as they are both malted. Red has a slightly more prominent flavor but otherwise quite similar.
