I started picking a few cones off my bines, but the more I picked, the more I realised they might be a little early. Rubbed between my palms they fall to bits and leave a lot of lupulin on my hands. A video below of me crushing some in my hand. However, I suspect I might be a few days early... thoughts?

"by feel" isn't always the most accurate method.

Do you have a cheap microscope, or a camera with a macro lens? You can tell ripe hops are by looking at the glands. Unripe hops have cup shaped glands. You need to wait until your cups are full/overflowing

You can also tell just by colour to some extent - if they're still bright green it's too early, but they go a darker green once they're ready.
