Anyone know what a 15 gallon Demijohn costs, roughly? I have a chance to get one used for $60, not sure if its a good deal or not.

I'd get one, if I thought I could manage it! I wouldn't be able to lift it, that's for sure. I usually like to do large batches of wine, but I wouldn't be able to move it and I don't have a shelf that would work.

Wow thats cheaper than I thought. I guess its not such a good deal afterall. Thanks for the link, I thought I looked everywhere online.
I'd like to get one for procuring cider from farmers in the fall. I want to get large amounts of cider, but not enough to fill a 55 gallon barrel. However you can get it cheaper if you bring your own vessel.

BTW a full demijohn of cider should weigh about 200lbs. A lot more manageable then a 450+lb. barrel of cider.

True- but that's about 70 pound more than I weigh. I don't think I could manage it! I'm glad that you can, though- it sounds awesome!
