Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu Ur-Märzen

Toasted. Nutty. Crisp. Delicious.

Went for a long lunch to visit a buddy (@weatherdog) at the Cellar Door in Downers Grove, IL and had a couple pours of the above deliciousness with a hearty lunch (grilled cheese with aged Irish cheddar, Bentons bacon and jalapeno jelly). Toasty, nutty, malt forward without an obvious sweetness, finishes balanced with a crisp well carbonated mouthfeel. Just about everything I want in the style, and in a glass that just begs for a second pour.

Cheers!

Resident Brewer = David Sawyer, home mead maker who I believe is in the planning (further?) stages of commercially producing mead.

Appreciate the info. Powzy sent me some Second City Mead, too. That was happily disposed off and signed up for that membership. Your region has wonderful meads, must be all the beetus you have growing nearby.
