hi all not sure if am posting in the rite place what is the next best fing to guinness larger that i can make ?

Do you mean the Guinness Black Lager that was just released a few months ago, or Guinness Stout (which is an ale, not a lager)?

Do a forum search for "Schwarzbier" which is the technical style name for a black lager. Just note that these ARE lagers, so you'll need to have pretty good fermentation temp control to pull one off. Good luck!

lager ... only one R

as noted above, search shwarzbier on forum, you will find several threads. If you have never done a lager before, you may want to read up on the requirements for fermentation temp. Lagers take at least twice as long as ales to ferment and mature, they require lower fermentation temperatures, etc. You could use an ale yeast on a beer like this, but you would end up with something closer to a porter than a shwarzbier
