Custom Tap handle help - metal

Guys,

I want to cut down a golf club shaft and use just the grip and maybe a piece of the shaft as a tap handle. How would I attach it to the tap? Anyone done this?

The shaft is probably hollow so maybe get some material to fit inside and drill and tap that

Can you braze? That would work. Or you could solder an insert. Or epoxy it?

Cut the grip and the shaft off to the length you want and pack the hollow space inside the shaft with some epoxy putty and center the right size nut to fit your tap before the putty sets up.
