crystal 40L or carmel 40L? Help!

Hello all. Rather new at this, all of 3 extract kits, and gotta question. Are these two interchangeable for a 30 minute steep? I'm trying to come up with a Smuttynose IPA clone, and Crystal 40L was a suggestion. I'm trying to get all my ingredients at one site, some have one but not the other. Plan on using Light Lme, 10lbs in split additions, and hopefully will get the hop additions figured out soon. If the two grains aren't interchangeable, any suggestions?
