4 lbs to add to my supply. Shipped monday, to HI by thursday. Love Hops Direct!
yup - 12.9% could have been a previous batch/year, or a typo, who knows. with those prices and great service, there is no need for any trickery. My Columbus were 13.6%. I brewed with them last night. They smelled good. I'm guessing the website had the wrong info. Could be wrong, of course, but it's such a good company I don't think they'd intentionally mislead people.
Piratwolf said:I've ordered 4-5 times from them & several times the tracking showed "Trout, OR" until the the day it showed up at my house. Strange, but never more than 5 days after tracking no, and I live in VA.
I weighed my new orders today--1# 3.3oz of Amarillo, 1# 2.8oz of Glacier. Gotta luv em!
On a related note, anyone use Yakimavalleyhops.com? Their prices are SICK... So much so that I hesitate to order without references. (no, I am not in any way affiliated... Just a hophead trying to save a buck or ten!)
I got to weigh my 3lbs of hops today, 18.2, 18.6, 18.1 ounces. Nice...almost 7 oz's of extra bonus hops!

hats off to hops direct, they really went above their job in order to secure my order. They waited for quite a few days 'til paypal cleared my banking account and shipment only took a day or so after payment.
most of the bags are 2.5oz over and i could not be happier about it, all of them seem to be filled with some nitro (won't open'em until my next brewing season in about a month) and they were covered with some paper to minimize whatever impacts the box could get.
i'd strongly recommend hops direct if you're importing from mexico (or any of the countries in south & central america for that matter). Mexico has a zero tax for hops so that's a plus.
on the other hand, the USPS took over 20 days to clear customs, once they did send the package across the board, it took three days for it to arrive at my door.
my guess is hops will not be spoiled at all for spending over 25 days without a freezer and in any case, i'll just use 3% more of each and forget about it.
to sum up: do buy from hopsdirect, excellent service and quality packing!
i opened my bag of legacy this weekend and used some in two batches. however, i couldn't get a good appreciation of the hops' aroma because (1) it was the first time i dealt with leaf hops - aroma is entirely different from pellets; and (2) the gas that they flush the bags with (nitrogen?) smells really strong. i've opened 3 bags from HopsDirect (including 1 pellet) and all three had that strong gas smell. ugh. t'was a very different experience from any other bags i've ever opened. typically i cut the bag open and stick my head inside to hyperventilate on the intoxicating smell. with the HD bags, i had to hold my nose. i'm assuming that the gas smell will be quickly boiled off and the hops true character will shine through... but what a downer.
