Setting up a Spike Trio 20 gal turnkey brew system (on order) at my sons house. I know ahead of time that he has crappy water. I was thinking of putting in one of those whole house filters just for the water source we will use to brew. Any suggestions on a decent one to get without breaking the bank.

What do you mean by crappy water, i.e. what's wrong with it?

Also, if you are thinking about filtering and/or treating it, it's best to get a water report, so you can decide what it actually needs.

A reverse osmosis system may be your best bet if the water is extremely hard. I have very hard water, so I buy RO water from a grocery store for brewing and add minerals to it to get suitable brewing water.

I got my water checked . Started adjusting water profiles using Bru N Water. Eventually I ended up using 100 % RO and building up. It seems easier .
