Happy Thanksgiving. I was making a 4 Liter starter this moring for a Pilsner that I'm brewing on Sunday, and wasn't paying attention to the time. After the boil, I realized I had to leave for dinner at parents. After I returned, 4 hour later, I pitched my yeast. I boiled in a 5000ml flask with the sponge stopper. I'm taking it I don't have to worry too much about off flavors since I am going to decant before pitching. Do I have to worry about anything else by doing it this way? Thanks.

Guess I don't have any worries because I have a nice, thick yeast slurry sitting on the bottom after 3 hours. Of course, I've been giving it pleny of oxygen while working off this turkey!!
