Okay, here is the great idea I had.
Why couldn't I just take a 40Q electric cooler (e.g. Coleman PowerChill) and use that as a fermenter? Add a temperature controller and a spigot and I should easily be able to do ales and probably do lagers. Coolers are often used as mash tuns so why not use one as a fermenter (should be food safe interior)? Units I have seen have seals on the doors (air tight) and it should be able to sanitize as easy as a bucket. Should be enough head space for a 5 gal batch easy. With a good temeprature controller you could do really good stepped fermentations (rests, etc.)
Anyone tried this?
