Has anyone ever used one of these as a way to transfer from primary to secondary? Would it work or is this a little over kill? Just thought about getting one for my brewing while cleaning out my deep fryer after a fish fry on Friday. This one is similair to mine however mine has a permanent stainless steel filter.

I've never used one but I'd be willing to bet that if it can handle cooking oil, wort shouldn't be a problem for it. Seems like it's inexpensive enough to at least try it and if it sucks then you're only out about $20. Post the results if you try it, I'd be interested to see how it works. One thing I'd be worried about is if this allows any O2 to mix with the liquid as it transfers. Which isn't an issue if you are just using it to transfer cold wort but can be a problem once it's beer.
