converting a keg to a lid??

i want to store milk in my kegs, so i need to lid my sankey kegs,
how can i do this ? people are triclamping things on there i just need a blanking plate or somthing ? i mean this kit video i could theoriticly cap the pipe inside off but surely i cna just buy a plate ?

this is my aim!

the OD is 60mm the id is 55mm of my keg , it has the angled base, so if i got a top blanking plate and a triclamp i could close it ?
the clamps and plates seem to be sold in 2inch, if i am 2.3inch they wnt fit?

and i seem to find 2inch clamps 2 inch seals but having 2.3inch on my OD makes me wary to order? i saw a seal say 2inch and then actual measurement was 64mm

https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/tc2bc.htm They are 2" tri-clamp blanks. Get that with a 2" tri-clamp and a seal that is flat one one side and grooved on the other. You can easily create a "lid" for sanke kegs.

The 2" iirc is for the ID of the pipe.

If I understand what you are wanting, you just need to buy a blank cap in the proper size for your tri-clover fitting. Not much cost at all.

The issue with capping it so securely is that it's possible to build up pressure inside with no safe way to vent. Once the clamp gets loosened, that cap can become a projectile. I'd consider pushing a rubber stopper in and it would act as its own pressure relief.

Hey; @drbobz ..Welocme to HBT! Please come back and give us some feedback. As long as your sanke has a standard sized valve-port, the stated 2" TC fittings will work. I use them myself on sanke fermenters with my own designed head, but this might be of interest to you:

If you have CO2 gear, it'll allow you access to the contents wether milk, beer, or whatever, without having to open it up.

I realize you are in the UK and my links are to the best dealer in the USA and apologize for the lack of a local source....hopefully this serves to at least let you know the products you seek do exist and most are easy to source with the exception of the one-sided gasket; While not entirely mandatory if there is no expected pressure, it is still advisable... If you have a steady hand and a very sharp blade; you can cut the curvature off of one side of an ordinary 2"TC gasket.

On a side note: I did do a search on here once for that archaic drink made from goat's milk that had been put aside for weeks... Has anyone on here any experience with that?

I agree that if you anticipate pressure(or it could happen spontaneously) you should have a prv. You could get a lid with a hole in it(or drill your own) and use a stopper, or they have lids with different fittings, you could get them with NPT fittings, and add a prv?

In my experience, except for the "D" type keg necks (American Sankey), all of them (A, G, S, M and U) fit the 62mm clamp lids just right. It's a standard clamp size.
