Collapsible Brew Stand

Has anyone every built a collapsable brew stand? I'm thinking a single tier, 3 burner stand with all the pumps but hinged so it can collapse flat against a wall.

I want to step up to 10 gallon batches but I don't have the space to store a fully rigid single tier stand, where is everyone else storing their systems?

I went with a vertical configuration and free standing burners. It's essentially a two tier configuration with an elevated cooler HLT. The burners are stored on the lower tower shelves and the HLT cooler stays on the top when not in use. Footprint is approximately 2 ft X 2 ft. The two kettles are stored separately (on a shelf in an adjacent storage room). The two propane tanks are also stored separately in the garage. I don't have the room for a permanently set up "big rig" either. I also wanted everything to be light weight and easy to transport. I did see something similar to what you have described, but I don't remember what thread it was in. Sometimes smaller really is better.

Not collapsible, but Metro style wire shelving may be a great solution. Most shelves hold up to 300+ pounds per shelf. I bought mine off Craig's list and have them throughout the garage.

Each rack rests on a plastic sleeve, gravity and friction keep it in place.

I'd bet it wouldn't be hard to make one to fold up. Were I to do one I think I'd hinge the legs to fold in and make a removable bottom shelf to sit in "pockets" on the legs, and lock in place with bolts or pins. The rigid shelf would make the thing pretty solid in use. You could keep the pumps attached to the shelf too, making putting the thing away pretty quick.

I made my single tier so you can store it upright. the kegs would be stacked next to it is the only down side. Everything else is hard mounted.

This is what I'm thinking. Top hinged on one long side, other side fits into pockets on the legs. The sides fold in and lock out with pins. The lower shelf is ridig and fits into pockets on all 4 legs. Thickness would be about 6 inches for clearance on all the folding pieces. I wish I could draw....

I wish we lived closer together, Hellbent...I'd love to build a folding single tier. I just built my rigid one though, so without a darned good excuse I won't be building a folder soon.

Storage was a big concern for me when I built my Brutus 10 (linked in my signature). I designed it so that the keggles are stored inside of the stand, and the whole stand fits under my workbench in the garage.

That has got to be the most compact Brutus design!....I used to have a single tier (wood) and liked it, but it was too dang big. Also, I think people overestimat the height needed on a single tier.....it's actually better to keep it on the short side. Nice work!

I'm working on building my wooden single-tier stand based on your original one but I'll probably make it a bit shorter and the dimensions will be just wide and long enough to sport the kegs for brewing one top and to store on their side underneath. I'll probably design in a way to mount my CFC and pumps as well.

I'm wanting to use copper pipe for the propane just because an aged copper with a finished wood will look sweet and old-timey.
