:mug: I put together a new recipe tweaking my Oatmeal Stout with coffee malt instead of my usual chocolate malt.

7.5 gal. batch

9lb Dry dark malt extract
1.5lb Flaked oats
1lb Rosted Barley
.5lb Coffee malt

2 oz. Northern Brewers hops@ 60 min.

1 pkg Nottinghams

Anyone used coffee malt before?:mug:

I just had a recipe that called for it (DFH Indian Brown Clone) and couldn't find it anywhere local. I think NB has it though if I had time to order it. I ended up with just chocolate malt as per reccomended from DFH.

I'm planning on brewing the DFH Indian Brown Ale too in a week or so. I'm having a hard time locating Coffee Malt at my LHBS as well. Did you just end up replacing the coffee malt with chocolate malt, or did you supplement with something else as well? The recipe I'm using is from BYO 250 clone recipes and calls for 6.5oz coffee malt.

Also, how did it turn out in comparison to DFH's beer?

Thanks
julian
