Found this elsewhere and posted here for reference

9 oz. - diameter 2-1/8" or 5.5cm, total length 10-1/2" or 26.5cm, length to where it starts to narrow down, 8" or 20.5cm.

24oz - diameter 3-1/4" or 8.5cm, total length 12" or 30.5cm, length to where it starts to narrow 9" or 23cm.

20 ounce co2 tank. Height = 10 1/2 " or 27 cm, width = 3 1/4 " or 8 cm.

Paintball tank measurements... Nice. It would take a lot of 9oz tanks to push and carb a keg of beer. LOL.

Agreed trying to carbonate with a paintball CO2 tank is not a great idea, but you should be able to push 2 or 3, 5 gallon kegs with a paintball tank.

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a very sexy stainless nitrogen regulator than I'll be converting for CO2. The brass one I have will be adapted to use paintball tanks with the William's adapter.

Would these dimensions approximately apply to a refurbished stainless steel tank as well, or are the aluminum ones all going to be different?

Even among the aluminum ones there's some variation in the shape depending on manufacturer. Most of them are relatively close to the dimensions on the chart though, regardless of material. Some may be slightly taller and thinner, and others slightly shorter and wider.

Truck on down to your welding supply place, tape measure in hand, and ask if you can get some measurements.

I have a 20 lb. tank, steel, that is a slightly smaller dia. than the pictured aluminum 20 pounder..........Meaning me thinks it's taller than mentioned.
