I am new to kegging, first keg of AHS 20th Anniversary Kolsch was finally ready this past weekend after a week+ of room temp carbing. My thermostat on the keezer is not here yet so since I have moved the gas and keg to the freezer I have been unplugging when I don't want a drink and plugging back in a couple hours before I do. I noticed since Saturday I have lost 2 lbs of co2 and got a noise burning aroma when I stuck my head into the freezer to check the regulator.

It is obvious, at least I think, that I have a leak somewhere, but I know I didn't have it when it was sitting at room temp bc my gauge hardly moved in those 10 or so days at 30lbs. So I checked bubbles around the keg lid, the gas line and regulator and everything looked good those places so my questions are - could the temperature change cause the leak? Should I disconnect and turn off the gas in the future when I am not planning on using the keezer until I can regulate the temperature? I have about a week before my thermometer should arrive, should I just wait for it before I plan on drinking out the keg again?

Did you measure the co2 by the gauge or the weight of the tank? The gauge is inaccurate at lower temps...

Fluctuating temps shouldnt cause leaks

Well let's hope the gauge is incorrect bc of the cold temp. The burning odorless fumes would indicate co2 in the keezer right?
