Thought I had an abundance of EKG but I did not.
I brewed an oatmeal stout this afternoon and realized this as it was preparing for boil.
I subbed 1.5 oz Cluster @ 60 for the 1.75 ekg I would normally use. I only use cluster for older historical beers and not really anything else. They seem to produce a clean, maybe earthy bitternes; but thats about as far as I've looked into them.

Anybody have an opinion on my choice: ya or nay?

Figure the malt will shine through plenty with this batch.

I've used them in a few beers for bittering and flavor. I agree with your description of them. I wouldn't fear using them in a stout. Let us know what happens.

Should be fine. I like EKG but they are pretty low alpha so I always use something else at 60 minutes.
