Hi All,

For my next batch I’m adding glitter to my beer. Thought it would be a good idea for my daughter’s birthday. However I want to do it without letting air into the keg. Would the following work?

Purge the keg with co2. Put the glitter in my bouncer filter so the beer from the fermenter carries the glitter into the keg. Thoughts?

I know I know, I normally wouldn’t even think of a glitter beer. I was just trying to make something more memorable

If the edible glitter you use is smaller than the filter size it should work, but I'd still be worried about clogging.

You can use a carbonation cap + a plastic bottle to add the glitter to a small amount of beer. If you pressurize the bottle higher than the keg and then attach it to a keg post you'll force the beer+glitter solution into the keg.

Duclaw makes a beer called unicorn farts which is glittered, if you couldn't tell by the name. The glitter is there but not like holy sh#! This beer showed up straight from the strip club... it's a sour and I don't do sours but a buddy of mine showed up with it and I tried it.. anyhow I don't know their process or what type of edible glitter is available. I'd say the best way to get it into the keg would be to inject via syringe, the bouncer idea could work but might be more trouble.

I’m a beer flavored beer guy myself but I think it’s a fun idea for something memorable. I’d look into injecting it the way people inject gelatin into the keg through the gas post. I’ve never done it but I think I remember reading about people doing that. Good luck, have fun and PLEASE post a picture!

I was sort of initially dumbfounded by the question. I had to look up your mention of this. I wish they had a picture of what it looks like in a glass.

Though I'm not sure what the difference will be for just adding the glitter after the glass is poured as opposed to adding it to the fermenter. Maybe if the OP gets decent results then I'd hope for a update. And a picture of the beer in a glass.

My dumbfounded state is now interest. Though I doubt I'd ever want to do it myself. But you know what they say about saying never.

And if the glitter added is real gold leaf glitter, then the OP might could tell the friends that their crap will now be worth something!
