I do closed transfers from my conical to my kegs. Now I want to try fining with gelatin and the instructions I've seen say to chill the keg first and then open the keg and swirl the gelatin in. I don't want to introduce any oxygen like that. Could I add the gelatin to the empty keg first, transfer and then put it in the fridge?

Yep. Add gelatin, purge, rack beer, purge and seat the lid w/ pressure. At this point I tip the keg upside down for a few minutes (I dont really "shake" it) to mix up the gelatin more. Not sure if tipping is absolutely necessary, but my lagers are crystal clear after a week.

My gelatin pack recommends 8oz water and 0.5 tsp gelatin. I've found 4oz boiled water works just fine, FWIW
