Found a great video series by Chris Knight on Cleaning and Kegging! This was very helpful for me, in being ready to clean/fill my keg system.

Yes....Seen this on here a while ago, but still great videos IMO. I basically practice what he does when I blow and/or fill a keg. Great habit to get into. I'm pretty much a slob around the house but I'm anal about my beer equipment and garage..... Much to SWMBO's shagrin...

do you guys take the posts off too. I remember watching these last year. Great videos. THe only think I dont understand is why he keeps turning off the co2. He's got a keg in there that is not empty. So was just wondering.

He may have a dual regulator setup, and is just turning off the one that he is working with. He may may have a manual on/off for each keg. I don't have my system yet, what happens with a ball lock when you disconnect a pressurized gas QD? I know the keg will hold pressure, will the QD continue to flow, or does it cutoff too?

I noticed in the comments of this series, that alot of people commented about him being alot more thourgho than he needed to me, but better safe than sorry!

I'm about to start kegging (should be finished with my keezer tonight!) -- These videos were very useful. Question: Is this guy efficient? I'm anal also about cleanliness, but is it necessary to run hot water through the lines first, and then cleaner, or can you skip the hot water? I don't want to skip a step that is important.

Yeah I agree. My intentions when I 1st started kegging was to do this, but with the orings and poppets on some kegs being so finicky , I just soak over night, rinse really well through both posts and sanitize . I also use a new toilet brush on the inside, careful not to scratch it.

There's nothing wrong with running hot water , but you could use the hot water and oxyclean in the keg and straight through the tap. THe hot water and tap should clear the lines pretty quick. I would be more anal about rinsing final clear water through the tap. You dont want oxyclean residue in your lines.
