someone gave me a 12 pack of 22oz bottles but most of them have some sediment in the bottom that dried in the bottle. what do ya think? oxi clean? i dont usually encounter this problem because i always rinse my bottles well after i finish a beer.

An Oxyclean soak and a bottle brush should do it. If I didn't have a bottle brush, I would definitely find something to scrub and scrape around down there with (a toothbrush, a stick with a cloth tied around it, something).

soak in hot oxy clean, and for the real stubborn a quick swirl of a bottle brush. sometimes just filling it half way with the oxy clean water and shaking the heck out of it with your thumb over the top will get rid of the stubborn stuff in lieu of bottle brush. i just cleaned 100 wine bottles that were found in a neighbors garage none ever being even rinsed this way.. i have a 150 qt cooler that i fill with hot water and oxy then submerge the bottles so they dont float one at a time. the cooler keeps the temp nice and hot to keep the oxy working. if the water is cold the christals tend to re solidify and are a pain to rinse

+1 for OxyClean and shaking the heck out of it. I soak all my bottles at least overnight, then rinse. Really cruddy ones get a vigorous shake with hot water, and if that still doesn't get them clean, they go back into the OxyClean solution for another night.

I have used this method on many bottles that had crud in them from when I got them from a friend, or just because I forgot to rinse them after emptying and left them in the bottom of a bucket in my closet. There was only ever 1 bottle I couldn't get clean with this method.

I just threw it in the recycling.

+1 to OxyClean.

I have a friend who gives me bottles that are NOT rinsed and have mold in them sometimes. I crank ultra hot water and oxyclean and it takes care of it easily.

ok i got some oxi clean free. soaked some of them in it and they seemed to come clean so far. although it seems like theres some kind of residue on the outside of the bottles from the oxi clean. probably just the oils from my hands on the bottle

Imagine this: a stranger hands you a bottle with nasty dried crusty crud on the bottom of it and says "I'll give you fifty cents to clean this out for me." Would you do it? If so, go ahead and do (try) any or all of the above. If you wouldn't do it for someone else for fifty cents (the cost of a new, clean bottle) then why would you do it for you?

Just make sure you rinse the bottles very well, if they still have that slimy feeling when you touch them you didn't rinse them enough. This goes for the insides of the bottles too.

yeah it's weird. theres a weird sediment on the bottles from the oxi clean. i thought i rinsed them really well. strange

I actually use a drop of dish soap and hot tap water. I put a drop of soap in and let it fall on the bottom. Then I fill up about 1/4 of the way with hot tap water and give it a good shake. Then I let it sit overnight... the next morning when I swirl them around everything is broken free. Then just rinse a few times and all is well. Make sure it is dish soap, and NOT dishwasher detergent. Dishwasher detergent has an additive for a spot free rinse that actually leaves a film on the glass.

for one or two bottles I agree, but for the huge volume I have then I will wash em.

But he is keeping the bottles, not yourself....
