I have a mild steel brewstand that is coated with high temp grill paint, the same product found here:

The stand itself has not rusted, but the burners (cheap BG-10s) will occasionally collect water inside of them and drip rust on the stand. I don't actually care much about the aesthetics, but I don't want my stainless kettles in contact with rusty mild steel.
What would be the best way to clean the stand without damaging the paint coating? Would oxalic acid (bar keepers friend) be damaging to the paint?
Thanks for your time
