I recently bought a 5 gallon brew pot and made my wort in it. After transferring to my fermenter I cleaned out the brew pot and on the bottom it looked slightly brownish. So I used Bar keepers friend. and rinsed it out with hot water. I made another batch of beer in the pot. I got to thinking today. Should I have boiled water in the brew pot or washed it in a dishwasher before making my other batch? just asking because that powder is real fine and maybe I missed some when rinsing.

thank you.

As long as you got all the soap/cleaner residue out you're fine. I usually triple rinse all of my equipment after using any type of cleaner.

A neat trick to remove the brown stuff (beer stone) is using an acid of some sort. Concentrated Starsan works well (like 2x normal dilution) or I personally use citric acid. I got 4-5lbs of it for like $12 on eBay. It's food grade and works almost immediately. More info about how to clean your brewing kettle with citric acid. Cheers!

BKF works wonders and I just clean thoroughly then double rinse with hot water. That's all. When you let it dry, if you look and see white marks and lines on your kettle it means there's still BKF residue and you need to better your rinsing technique. I'm not sure if water chemistry has anything to do with how well it removed cleansers. Cheers
